Surya namaskar and benefits of Surya Namaskar were shared in satsang.

Surya namaskar and benefits of Surya Namaskar were shared in satsang.
A. It improves the blood circulation of all the important organs of the body.
B. Improves the functioning of the heart and lungs.
C. Strengthens the muscles of the arms and waist.
D. Makes the spine and waist more flexible.
E. Helps in reducing the fat around the abdomen and thus reduces weight.
F. Improves digestion.
G. Improves concentration power.

Importance and Benefits of ‪#‎SuryaNamaskar‬ is shared in Sanskrut as follows:-

आदित्यस्य नमस्कारं ये कुर्वन्ति दिने दिने ।
जन्मान्तरसहस्रेषु दारिद्र्यं नोपजायते ।।

Meaning : It is said that the person who does Surya Namaskar is untouched by poverty for his thousand lifetimes.

Next topic of discussion was learning from Mistakes.
One child said that she does not recognize her mistake during the day and guidance was given in such cases we can ask help from parents to make you aware of mistakes and they will surely help us. Another child told that he pushes and pulls sister. Another child attending the satsang shared with him that we should treat people in a way that we expect people to treat us. We can keep this in mind and behave nicely with others. In Hindu Dharma, it is said that one should always be respectful. When we get a thought to push/pull one should become aware walk in the next room, chant for sometime, calm down so that action of pushing will not happen. Also one can take the help of Auto Suggestion which is technique to train your mind to handle such situation.

One child shared a mistake of repeatedly asking for play time when it was time for Children Satsang.
Correct perspective was shared that we can play at any other time but Bal - Sanskar Varg is only once a week. Through satsang we learn about righteousness about Hindu Dharma so it is very important to have gratitude bhav for Bal - Sanskar Varg in this Raja-tama environment in kaliyug (apatkal). We receive Chaitanya in Bal - Sanskar Varg whereas only playing for fun does not help like satsang.

Children shared action point to learn Surya Namaskar in coming week and share in next satsang.

Join Hinduism Education Satsang For Children for encouraging Hindu children to understand and live Hinduism by providing them step by step explanation of Hindu rituals, festivals and spiritual practice every Thursday at 8:00 PM EST via phone conference. Spiritual Science Research Foundation Benefits of Chanting

Benefits of Chanting

Developing a liking for chanting and purification of the sub-conscious mind

According to psychology, chanting God’s Name and that of a worldly object are quite similar. When a mother utters or hears her child's name, several emotions arise in her subconscious mind. These could be motherly affection, happiness, worry, aspirations, etc. This is because all emotions associated with the name of the object, that is the child, coexist. The memory of or hearing that name constantly activates the emotions. This is spontaneous and is a powerful driving force in a mother's life. Sometimes due to this very force a mother is prepared to sacrifice everything for her child.

The psychological response in chanting God’s Name is the same. When we chant His Name, we have some emotion or image about God, consciously or unconsciously. We also have some notion about God’s qualities. We know from discussions that we benefit from God’s grace and that chanting His Name is the tool to acquire it. Therefore the spiritual emotion (bhāv) that we are chanting the Name of God who has distinguished qualities, accompanies the Name. Due to this spiritual emotion, emotions such as respect, love and devotion for God, fear of wrong actions etc. go on increasing progressively, while undesirable emotions on the other hand keep diminishing. Thus gradually the subconscious mind gets purified.

A Great Lesson

A Great Lesson

Saints teach us only what they themselves have practiced. That is why their advice has the power to do us good.

The great Guru Ramkrishna Paramhansa had a poor woman among His disciples. One day, she came to Him with her son and said, “Gurudev, my son wants to eat sweets every day. This habit is spoiling his teeth, and I also cannot afford to buy them for him everyday. My advice, warning and scoldings have all been in vain. Please give him some advice and also bless him so that he stops the bad habit.”

Ramkrishna looked at the boy, but instead of talking to him, asked the woman to bring him back after two weeks.

The woman brought the boy to Him again after two weeks. As both sat down, Shri Ramkrishna kindly looked at the boy and said, “My dear son, is it true that you trouble your mother for sweets every day?” The boy hung his head and said, “Yes, Sir,” and became silent. “You are an intelligent boy. You know that those sweets are spoiling your teeth. Your mother, too, is worried about you. If she spends money on sweets everyday, how can she buy new books and good clothes for you? Don’t you think you are making a mistake?”

Ramkrishna’s words touched the boy’s heart. He looked at Ramkrishna and said, “Yes, Sir” and became silent again. “Then, will you stop asking for sweets from today?” asked Ramkrishna in an appealing tone. The boy smiled this time and said, “Yes, Sir, I will stop troubling my mother for sweets from today and stop eating them everyday.”

Ramkrishna, pleased with the boy’s reply, lovingly drew him close and said: “My son, you are a nice boy. You understand what is good and what is bad for you. You will surely grow up to be a happy man.” As the boy bowed down in Namaskar, Ramkrishna blessed him and turned to the other devotees.

After the boy went out into the garden, his grateful mother asked Ramkrishna, “Gurudev, why did you make us wait for two weeks to give these few words of advice?” Ramkrishna smiled and said, “You see, when you came two weeks ago, I, too, was in the habit of eating sweets brought by devotees. How could I ask your son not to do something which I myself was doing almost everyday? So, from that day I stopped eating sweets. That gave me enough strength and power to advise your son to do what I myself have done. Only when we preach what we practice, are our words full of sincerity and appeal to the listener.”

All the devotees in the room felt that they, too, had learnt a great lesson from Ramkrishna.

Moral: As this story shows, the most effective way to tell others about how to do spiritual practice or live righteously, is by practicing it ourselves. This way there is Truth behind it since we have practiced it and experienced it. Otherwise, we may find that others do not take such advice seriously.

Spiritual Science Research Foundation What is sixth sense?

What is sixth sense?

Sixth sense, or subtle perception ability, is our ability to perceive the subtle dimension or the unseen world of angels, ghosts, heaven, etc. It also includes our ability to understand the subtle cause and effect relationship behind many events, which is beyond the understanding of the intellect. Extrasensory perception (ESP), clairvoyance, premonition, intuition are synonymous with sixth sense or subtle perception ability. Throughout this website we use the words sixth sense, ESP and subtle perception ability interchangeably.

Factors that decide which person receives knowledge through the subtle intellect:

There is a combination of factors that goes into deciding which person receives knowledge from the subtle. The spiritual level of a person is one of the key factors in deciding which person receives knowledge from the subtle. Besides the spiritual level, the factors that decide the acquiring of higher spiritual experiences, like the receipt of knowledge are:
• Motivation and intense yearning of the person
• Necessity for God’s mission
• Resolve and blessings of the Guru (a spiritual master and guide beyond the 70% spiritual level)
• Destiny of the person

It should be noted that if a person at a higher spiritual level is interested in acquiring knowledge of an inferior nature, for instance concerns about day-to-day happenings on Earth, even though he is capable of receiving knowledge from higher-level subtle bodies, he would receive such knowledge through lower level subtle bodies. In contrast, if a person at a comparatively lower spiritual level, e.g. 50%, has a deep motivation to learn the higher principles of spiritual sciences, he will receive knowledge from higher subtle bodies or subtle bodies from higher regions, especially if blessed by the Guru.

Misuse of the sixth sense (ESP)

Sixth sense is to be used only for spiritual growth towards God-realisation, the ultimate in spiritual growth. From a pure spiritual perspective, it is considered misuse when sixth sense is used for anything else, such as worldly matters. In other words, if a psychic uses his psychic ability to find out if a person is going to get married or get a job, it is considered misuse from a spiritual perspective.

When sixth sense (ESP) is misused by a person who is psychic, over time two things happen:
1. They lose their ability. This generally happens over a 30 year period.
2. They become targets for sorcerers of higher spiritual strength. Sorcerers initially give some genuine information, enough to gain the confidence of the person. However, they later mislead them and the people they are guiding. In such cases, their psychic ability lasts for longer periods and may in fact appear to have improved steadily. But this psychic ability is not by virtue of the person but because of the sorcerer who is guiding the psychic. In such cases, the rare gift of sixth sense available to the person that could have been utilised for God-realisation is wasted on lesser matters.

Wisdom Dawns : Grace

Grace

Deep inside somewhere, you feel a fine vibration that touches.
That is grace. And whenever grace flows, you will find gratitude.

When there is gratitude, complaints vanish. Discontent is the
lower journey; gratitude is the plateau, the middle. Rising above this is grace.

Grace manifests inside as prayerfulness, longing. Outwardly grace flows to you as blessings. Grace is not earned through actions. It is a gift from the Divine. Years of different practices cannot bring you the joy that a moment of grace can bestow on you.

Grace flows from gratefulness. Gratefulness is the glow of one's life. A grateful person purifies his entire environment. In his presence all his family, friends, and the people around him are uplifted. Someone in anguish suddenly finds relief.

Life is worth living if even for a moment you have lived gratefully.

Be grateful for whatever God has offered you today. And you will see that He goes on offering plenty. Never a lack. But if you go on seeing the lack, then that continues. Your attention on lack allows lack to continue in life.

The more you possess, the more you feel lack. But when you open your eyes and see that you are part of everything, a sense of belonging dawns. And in that belonging there is contentment.

You belong to this whole universe. You are like the cherry on the top of a cake. You complete this existence. You being here on this planet, at this time, brings the time into a fullness. You are here to crown this universe, to crown this existence. This very moment that you are observing in this
universe is so precious.

When this awareness dawns in you, where is sorrow? Where
is the problem? Where are you caught up? Where have you lost yourself? Some small happenings here or there, a few words from this person or that person? Your prestige or respect is tarnished? You feel you are lost?

What is this foolishness in you? Wake up and see this whole creation. Open your eyes and you will see the Divine in every particle of creation. You are here now today. You crown this creation.

In front of such infinite joy, all other joys here and there are nothing. Other joys are like dust in the ecstasy of your Being.
Spirituality is like a banana and religion is like the banana skin. People today have thrown away the fruit and are left holding tightly to the skin.

Jesus said, "Knock, and it shall be opened unto you." Two thousand years ago the human mind was simple, natural, closer to the source. One needed only to knock on the door and grace would flow.

Today the mind has become more complex, more confused. Today the door to our innermost chamber is so tightly closed that we have to bang it down.

Bang on your inner door. See that there is no lack of love in you, there is no lack of anything whatsoever inside you.
You can experience God in the depth of your heart. Do not delay a moment. Bang on the door. All the wealth is within you.

Ramana Hridayam

Ramana Hridayam added a photo from 6 August 2013 to their timeline.
NO THEORY IS NECESSARY

D.: What certainty is there that something awaits there to
receive me?

B.: When a person is sufficiently mature he becomes
convinced naturally.

D.: How is this maturity to be attained?

B.: Various ways are prescribed. But whatever previous
development there may be, earnest Self-enquiry hastens it.

D.: That is arguing in a circle. I am strong enough for the
quest if I am mature and it is the quest that makes me mature.

(This is an objection that was often raised in one form or
another and the reply to it again emphasises that it is not
theory that is needed, but practice.)

B.: The mind does have this sort of difficulty. It wants a fixed
theory to satisfy itself with. Really, however, no theory is necessary
for the man who seriously strives to approach God or his true Self.
Everyone is the Self and indeed, is infinite. Yet each person
mistakes his body for his Self. In order to know anything,
illumination is necessary. This can only be of the nature of Light;
however, it lights up both physical light and physical darkness.
That is to say, that it lies beyond apparent light and darkness. It
is itself neither, but it is said to be light because it illumines
both. It is infinite and is Consciousness. Consciousness is the
Self of which everyone is aware. No one is ever away from the
Self and therefore everyone is in fact Self-realised; only – and
this is the great mystery – people do not know this and want to
realise the Self. Realisation consists only in getting rid of the
false idea that one is not realised. It is not anything new to be
acquired. It must already exist or it would not be eternal and
only what is eternal is worth striving for.

Once the false notion ‘I am the body’ or ‘I am not realised’
has been removed, Supreme Consciousness or the Self alone
remains and in people’s present state of knowledge they call this
‘Realisation.’ But the truth is that Realisation is eternal and
already exists, here and now.
Consciousness is pure knowledge. The mind arises out of
it and is made up of thoughts.
The essence of the mind is only awareness or consciousness.
However, when the ego overclouds it, it functions as reasoning,
thinking or perceiving. The universal mind, not being limited
by the ego, has nothing outside itself and is therefore only aware.
This is what the Bible means by ‘I am that I am.’
The ego-ridden mind has its strength sapped and is tooweak to resist distressing thoughts. The egoless mind is happy,as we see in deep, dreamless sleep. Clearly, therefore, happiness
and distress are only modes of the mind.

**For Those Who Make The Effort Realize God. (Sai Baba story)**

**For Those Who Make The Effort Realize God. (Sai Baba story)**

Once Sai Baba (a Saint from Shirdi, India), was playing with some coins by tossing them from one hand to the other, while testing them in various ways. He appeared to examine each coin individually. In this manner, he played with the coins for about half an hour without exchanging a word with His disciples, Damu and Nana, who were standing nearby.
Curious to know what Sai Baba was doing, Nana asked Him why He was scrutinising the coins over and over again. Baba replied, "Beta (dear son), it is true that I am repeating the same action and uttering the same words over and over again. Look at that mango tree in the yard. It is in full bloom, the leaves are hardly visible. If all the flowers in the tree were to become fruits, would the branches bear their weight? So, that does not happen, most of the flowers on the tree are swept away by the wind, many others drop off on their own accord, and only some of them become fruits. Squirrels, birds, or monkeys eat some of the fruits. Thus, over ninety percent of the flowers do not result in fruits that remain on the tree. Only ten percent or so of the fruits remain on the tree. Is it not so?" The disciples agreed that it was indeed so.
Sai Baba continued, "In the same manner, thousands of devotees are coming to me. Are they all maturing into good devotees? Many drop off half-way on the path. Some come for study. Many seek wealth while many others come in connection with success in their jobs, marriages, or other such personal desires. There is some defect or the other in each of them. No one comes for My sake. I have a precious thing in my coffers to offer them. But no one seeks it. It is for this reason that I am examining the coins. Among these coins there are some that are worn out, some that are debased, and some that are twisted and worthless. Just as I am examining the defects in these coins, I am also looking for the defects in the devotees who come to me. I am trying to find out if they can really comprehend My truth with their defects. They want Me, but all their desires are related to mundane objects. How can they attain Me with this attitude? How can you reach your destination if you get into a train that is going in some other direction than your destination? They want Me, but they don't make efforts to realise Me. Among the many that come to Me, it is only one in a thousand who really makes the efforts to realise Me!"

Paritraanay sadhunaam vinashaay cha dushkrutaam
Dharmasansthaapnarthaaya sambhavami yuge yuge.
- Shrimad Bhagvad Gita, 4:7, 8
Meaning: O Bharat! Whenever Dharma (righteousness) suffers a loss and Adharma (unrighteousness) abounds, I assume a form on such occasions, meaning, I appear before everyone in a gross form.
To liberate seekers, to destroy those who indulge in evil deeds and for the establishment of Dharma, I have been emerging and reappearing through the ages.
Implied Meaning: Vedic Sanatan Dharma is Swayambhu (self-born), that is, it has been made by God and also eternal ; hence, whenever Dharmaglaani (denigration of Dharma) takes place, God who is its protector, takes an incarnation to perform the task of Dharmasansthapana (establishing righteousness)
and history has been a witness to this; thus, it has existed since times immemorial and will continue to do so till eternity. The main task of incarnations is to annihilate the evil ones. God is otherwise Nirguna (Formless), but when the number and hooliganism of the evil ones increases, the formless God, though capable of inflicting punishment on them, assumes various forms to protect Dharma and His devotees, so that the evil ones have a fear that if they indulge in Adharma, they will be punished; but in a fit of ego, the evil one forgets all this and continues to perpetrate sins and once the pitcher of his evil acts becomes full, God reincarnates to protect Dharma and destroys not only the evil ones, but also those who silently endure the malfeasance of evil ones. Lord Shri Krushna has clearly said, “Paritraanay sadhunaam vinashaay cha dushkrutaam”, meaning He protects seekers and destroys the evil ones by establishing Dharma. He has not said that He will protect the gentlemen, He has said that He will protect Sadhunaam, meaning those beings who are immersed in Sadhana(spiritual practice). ‘Gentlemen’ who go around saying that he does not harm anyone and does not think ill of anyone, in fact do not receive God’s grace; thus, the gentlemen and nonseekers must make efforts to become a seeker, only then can one earn God’s grace. According to divine provision, the one who does good karma earn Punya (merit) and one who does evil incurs sin and as such has to reap Karmaphal (fruits of the action), but even when a devotee has to endure Karmaphal, as a result of one’s previous births and he calls out to God with an intense yearning, does God come to his rescue, or He provides one with the requisite fortitude to endure the same, or if the person’s devotion has reached a pinnacle, He even destroys all the problems of such a person; thus, gentlemen, become devotees, and evil ones, develop a fear for God’s staff, you can escape your sins from the government and the courts here, but is it possible to escape the punishment of Alaulik Sarkaar (Supreme Being’s decorum)!
