BHAGAVAD GITA Chapter VIII: 17-18
Those people who know the day of Brahma (the creator) which is of a duration of a thousand ages and the night which is also of a thousand ages’ duration, they know the real meaning of night and day.
From the unmanifested all the manifested worlds proceed at the coming of the “day”; at the coming of the “night” they dissolve verily into that alone which is called the unmanifested.

Commentary
Indian astronomers and sages of intuitive wisdom have calculated that a mahayuga (age) is of the duration of 4,320,000 years according to the earth calendar. A thousand of these constitutes the creator’s “day-time” - the period during which the manifest world "exists." After this there is an equal duration of the "night" of the creator. I believe the latest scientific discovery is that just as once everything emerged from God, later, everything will collapse into itself - first there was an explosion, and later there will be an implosion where everything will be sucked into its own center. The entire universe will be reduced to a pinpoint called a “singularity.” What is wrong with calling this Brahman, God?
Though here and there in our scriptures there is a description of "creation," such descriptions are quickly followed by a statement that it is a repetitive process. At the beginning of creation, the creator re-creates what was during the previous “day of the creator.“ No one can ever visualize a "creation from nothing." for then we should foolishly accept the idea that this manifest universe has existed only for a brief while and before that, from beginningless time, there was nothing! It is a cycle, with its projection and reabsorption; beginningless and endless (though he who is awake to self-knowledge is not caught in this relentlessly turning wheel). Many scientists and astronomers today seem to agree with this view of an ever-existing universe, condensing and expanding.

Meditation on the magnitude of the universe will save you from the worries of the moment. The words and the concepts of “time,” “night” and “day” are relative and illusory. Realizing this, all fear falls away from you

BHAGAVAD GITA Chapter VIII: 7-8

BHAGAVAD GITA Chapter VIII: 7-8
Therefore, at all times remember me only and fight. With mind and intellect fixed (or absorbed) in me, thou shalt doubtless come to me alone.
With the mind not moving towards any other thing, made steadfast by the method of habitual meditation, and constantly meditating (on the divine, one goes to the supreme person, the resplendent, Oh Arjuna.

Commentary
This is the yoga of the Bhagavad Gita, which will, with guaranteed certainty, lead us to the Lord. It is buddhi yoga (the yoga of understanding); not confined to any yoga practices such as asanas, pranayama, concentration and meditation - though these are not excluded, looked down upon or discouraged. The yogi must acquire, by diligent cultivation, what my Master Swami Sivananda called "double consciousness." He must be able to realize the crystalline nature of the self, and also perceive all activity as being sustained by the modes of the gunas (the divine nature). Realizing that he is the immortal self or atman, he must behold the ever-active nature of God of which, the self is but a silent, non-participant witness. The self, being non-different from the infinite, ceases to interfere in this shadow-play of nature on the "silver screen" of God.
Established in this realization, contemplation of the omnipresent God is not contradicted by activity. The yogi does not shy away from what must be done. With body and mind he works in this world doing his every duty flawlessly and efficiently. Only, in his heart, like and dislikes, fear, pleasure and pain are absent. His inner being stands aside, ever vigilant yet uninvolved, in constant remembrance of God. This is "continuous meditation," or "contemplative dynamism," - the innermost teaching of the Bhagavad Gita. There is no suppression or repression, but a whole-souled participation in the divine will without the least tinge of egoism. Hence, the yogi is never drawn towards the objects, though he moves amidst them. He lives in God.

Repetition of ‘Mantra’ takes one to the pure ‘I am’ state or ‘Sattva Guna’ and from there one merges into the source of all bliss, and then, all knowledge that you possess is laid down or surrendered and you merge with the Absolute beyond all name and form.

Global Organization of Hindus BHAGAVAD GITA Chapter VII: 28-30

"Things need not have happened to be true. Tales and adventures are the shadow truths that will endure when mere facts are dust and ashes and forgotten."
- Neil Gaiman
Artwork by Martin Hill

BHAGAVAD GITA Chapter VII: 28-30
But those men of virtuous deeds whose sins have come to an end, and who are freed from the delusion of the pairs of opposites, worship me, steadfast in their vows.
Those who strive for liberation from old age and death, taking refuge in me, realize in full that Brahman, the complete knowledge of the self and all action.
Those who know me with the adhibhuta (pertaining to the elements), adhidaiva (pertaining to the gods) and the adhiyajna (pertaining to sacrifice), know me even at the time of departure from this world, steadfast in mind.

Commentary
The vision of God cannot be obtained unless the heart and mind are made completely pure through perfectly ethical and moral conduct, when sinful tendencies have been totally overcome. A man meditating on the form of his guru without forgetting the ideal he stands for, grows in the virtues of the guru. Through worship of the various manifestations of the Lord, much virtue is gained and sinfulness ceases.

There is no effort, even, to abandon sinfulness (such effort would likely become the seed of future sin - arrogance). Sinfulness has to drop away. It is not possible to acquire virtue, to abandon wickedness or to grow in humility. When the right vision is acquired, these happen automatically. Till then, one must strive to grow in virtue and reduce wickedness by all means. Virtue and God-realization are simultaneous, without the relationship of cause and effect.

God is the very essence and soul of this material universe. He is the basis of whatever concepts of God each one of us may have (however diverse these may be), and the spirit whose supreme sacrifice constitutes creation. Such a homogeneous and comprehensive truth can only be grasped when the mind is steady and the heart absolutely pure. In that transparent heart the light of God is truly reflected. May we all enjoy that vision in this very birth.

Five stages are required to carry out any work. Let us take an example from the Path of devotion.

Stage 1 : Doing ritualistic worship, religious undertakings, visiting Holy places etc. for desired results.

Stage 2 : Doing manaspuja (Mental worship) instead of any ritualistic worship

Stage 3 : Chanting instead of manaspuja

Stage 4 : Making a resolve. Not just the whole world but also countless universes were created just by a resolve of God that ‘Although I am one, I will end up in many’. God has not created the universe by placing a stone one by one.

Stage 5 : Work happens just by mere presence. There is no need to work actually. A very common example is that of the sun. The sun does not go on announcing that, ‘Wake up, I am here.’ However, human beings animals, birds and other living beings all wake up when the sun rises.

Rationalists insist that only the first stage exists. The whole of mankind is being harmed tremendously because of the belief and teaching that there is nothing like the 2nd to 5th stages. If this continues, then man will revert back to an illiterate, untrained, and uncivilised being.

Dear seekers, what did you learn from the above?

Bhagavad Gita Kannada

ನಮ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಶಾಂತವಾಗಿರುವುದು(to be in blissfull state) ಶಮಾಃ.

I found this to be very accurate. What's your personality?

I found this to be very accurate. What's your personality?
Relax, look at the pictures and see which you are most attracted to. Results posted below. I picked # 9 Personality Test Results: 1. Freedom loving Freedom is important to you - nothing is worse than when you feel tied down. You may find you move jobs or location frequently because the idea of staying in one place too long unnerves you. The same can apply to relationships! People see you as fun loving, and you are. You attempt to enjoy life to the full, in accordance with the motto: "You only live once." You tend to attract less energetic people as friends or partners, like moths to a flame, they see you as the light. Careful they don't drain you! You are very curious and open about everything new and thrive on change. Quite simply, you are a breath of fresh air. 2. Independent and unconventional Your lifestyle is highly individualistic. You do not follow the crowd, on the contrary, you seek to live according to your own ideas and convictions, even if this means swimming against the tide. You need a free and unattached life that allows you to determine your own course. You have an artistic bent in your work or leisure activities. Your urge for freedom sometimes causes you to do exactly the opposite of what is expected of you. You are rather unique, so don't bother comparing yourself to anyone else. Live life your way. 3. Sensitive and reflective You are comfortable spending hours alone with your thoughts and rarely become bored. You dislike superficiality; you'd rather be alone than have to suffer through small talk. Your relationships with your friends are very strong, which gives you the inner tranquillity and harmony that you require. You love deeply but if someone betrays you it is next to impossible to forgive. You are an old soul, someone who has lived many times before and has seen it all. All you crave now is simplicity and the chance to focus your attention on a meaningful existence. 4. Down to earth and charming You have a natural authentic charm, what you see is what you get. People admire you because you seem so 'together'. You have both feet planted firmly on the ground and they can depend on you. While others complicate their life with ifs and buts, you know your own mind. You provide security and space to those close to you. You are a rock, and although others may not tell you, you are the sun around which they revolve. You dislike superficiality and tend to be skeptical toward the whims of trends. Where others crash and burn, you motor on, quietly achieving all you need to do. You are a woman (or man) of substance. 5. Professional and self-assured You take charge of your life, and place less faith in your luck and more in your own actions. You solve problems in a practical, uncomplicated manner. You take a realistic view of things in your daily life and tackle them without fuss. You are given responsibility at work, because people know that you can be depended upon. You project self-assurance to others. You are a born leader and organiser. Although you work well in a team, ideally you should be the one giving the orders. After all, you are usually right! 6. Peaceful and timeless You are easy-going yet discreet. There is a timeless elegance about you (think Audrey Hepburn). You make friends effortlessly, yet enjoy your privacy and independence. You like to get away from it all and be alone from time to time to contemplate the meaning of life. You need space, so you escape to hideaways, but you are not a loner. You are at peace with yourself and the world, and you appreciate life and what this world has to offer. You have a strong life purpose and when you discover it, you project your personal brand of magic on the world. 7. Cultured and classical Cultured and sophisticated you value the things money can't necessarily buy - good conversation, original ideas, music and the arts. You have a fair mind and can see both sides of an argument. You rarely let emotions get the better of you, preferring to assess situations rationally. Calm, logical and yet compassionate and kind. You have 'old-fashioned' principles, which at heart make you a real lady (or gentleman). A timeless, vintage classic - the sort of person everyone secretly admires and likes to copy. 8. Sensitive and spiritual You are a highly sensitive and spiritual person. You refuse to see life only from a rational view point. You have great intuition and trust your feelings. You must have dreams to aspire towards or you won't feel happy. You like to improve yourself, and in so doing make a difference in the world - even if only in little ways. You find it hard to understand people who are only guided rationality. You form true relationships with open souls, people who know there is more to life than we can touch, see or hear. Your psychic sense is highly evolved, trust it and work with it. 9. Dynamic and sparkly You are a mover and a shaker! You are willing to take risks in return for interesting and varied work. Routine tends to have a paralysing effect on you. Being stuck behind a desk 9-5 would destroy your soul and enthusiasm for life. You need to be given the chance to express your ideas and put them into action. You have a rainbow personality, and can cheer others up, even on the gloomiest of days. If you ever feel you have lost your sparkle it is because the situation you find yourself in is not right for you. Follow your enthusiasm, even if it means you chop and change for years. The journey is as important as the destination. ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ Click on the Follow Me Button for More Daily! ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ Click and join us here---for more every day fun, tips, recipes, weight loss support & motivation.. https://www.facebook.com/groups/LivingHealthyWithLeeAnn/ ♥♥♥ Please "like" my Facebook Page ------ > https://www.facebook.com/skinnyfiberwithleeann Follow or Friend Me--> https://www.facebook.com/leeann.kerber Get your Skinny on! 100% natural!

It’s Just a Matter of Timing

Many years ago I spent time with a Tibetan teacher, Trungpa Rinpoche. In an interview he suggested a meditation technique in which one expands one’s awareness outward. He suggested we do it together. So we sat facing each other and he said, “Just expand outward.” And I started to expand outward.
After about twenty seconds he said “Ram Dass, are you trying?” And I said, indignantly, “Yes!” He said, “Don’t try, just expand outward.” And it absolutely blew my mind. Really. That was an exquisite teaching at that moment. Don’t try, just do it. That’s really what right effort is about. I think the key to right effort is timing.
I used to go to meditation courses and I hated every minute. But I thought, “It’s good for me.” And I would squirm and my legs would hurt and I’d day-dream. I’d count the hours and days until I could get out. And I felt so righteous about doing it. And then I thought to myself “Do you think this is really getting you liberated?”
I mean I’d come out so neurotic and just waiting for a steak and a milk shake. I would have fantasies during the meditation course of what I was going to eat the first day and how I’d drive in the country and how free I’d feel. But I kept going to these courses because I was feeling it was “good for me”. I felt I had to do good in order to be good. Then I decided if this was the only way to liberation, I guess I wasn’t going to make it. So I gave up. And after a few years I noticed that I started to yearn to just sit quietly. And it was a whole different ball game. An Indian Saint, Ramama Maharshi, once said, “I didn’t eat and they said I was fasting.” Same thing!
It has to do with timing. It’s as if our minds see in advance where we’re going, and then our mind-overkill makes us imitate where we think we’re going, which doesn’t give us a chance for our intuition to get us moving in a timely manner. Somebody came up to me the other day and said, “You know, I’m just tired of being ‘should upon’.” Me too!
Mainly I was doing it to myself. You know, “You should do this, you really should.” I almost distrusted that I had a true yearning for God. And that’s where the ‘shoulds’ were coming from, that lack of faith. The more I trusted myself and said, “Well, okay, I’ll just be what I am” the more I began to feel this deep pull towards God. And these methods which could help me, such as meditation started to be a joy rather than a mountain to be climbed. It’s just a matter of timing.

To be sad.
To be mad.
To hold regret.
