LORD GANESHA or Vinayaka is abundantly built. He is said to contain within Himself all matter, all mind. He is the very personification of material existence and is everywhere in the Universe. He is non-different from the world that He has created. In seeing and understanding the varied forces at work in the physical universe, we are seeing and understanding the powers and the being of Lord Ganesha. God is everywhere. Lord Ganesha is everywhere. We are learning to see God everywhere. Ganapati means Consciousness. It also means the bestower of boons.

Ganapathy, the elephant headed son of Shiva and Parvati, means the Leader of the Ganas, spirits that accompany Lord Shiva. Gananatha refers to Lord Ganesha, to the many divine beings who help in guiding the flow of consciousness under the direction of the Mahadevas.

Vinayakah are beings who create obstacles in spiritual progress by offering temptations; Vinayaka is the Remover of the Vighna – Obstacles. He is praised in Vinayaka Ahval, Ode to Vinayaka by the famous Tamil poet-saint Avvaiyar. Vinayaka Viratham is a twenty-one day vrat festival to Ganesha beginning on the full-moon in November-December. Ganesh is worshipped at the beginning of many new undertakings. Ganesha Chaturti is a ten day festival of August September culminating in a spectacular parade called Ganesha Visarjana.

Ganesha-Ganesha refers to Adi-deva, the First God of Wisdom, the God of Beginnings, the granter of success in spiritual and material life. Adi means first and it is Ganesha that is worshipped first in all rituals.

Ganesha Upanishad, is a later Upanishad on Lord Ganesha, not connected with any Veda; date of composition is unknown. It is a major scripture for the Ganapatians who revere Lord Ganesha as Supreme God. Life becomes a joy knowing that there is nothing that exists apart from God. May you stay blessed by Lord Ganesha’s grace in all you undertakings and life in general. May we beg a complete trust that all that happens is for the best, a full knowing that God's Will prevails everywhere.
