"When ego is lost, limit is lost. You become infinite, kind, beautiful." - Yogi Bhajan

“When your attention moves into the Now, there is an alertness. It is as if you were waking up from a dream, the dream of thought, the dream of past and future. Such clarity, such simplicity. No room for problem-making. Just this moment as it is.”

~ Eckhart Tolle

    || The Purpose of Life is to Find God ||
We should realize that we are visiting this earth only temporarily ; we are here solely to learn necessary lessons and to help all who cross our path . We do not know why we have been cast in a particular role , so we must learn what God expects of us . Don't harbour personal desires ; our only desire should be to follow the Lord's will and to live and work for Him . We are here today , tomorrow we are gone : mere shadows in a cosmic dream . But behind the unreality of these fleeting pictures is the immortal reality of Spirit . Life here on earth appears futile and chaotic until we are anchored in the Divine . Do not concentrate upon ephemeral worldly goals and human attachments . Such fanaticism takes your mind away from the Lord and your eternal Self in Him . " He who has overcome attachment both to sense objects and to actions , and who is free from ego-instigated plannings --that man is said to have attained firm union of soul with Spirit ." ( Gita 6 / 4 ) .
Until you realize that God is more important than anything else , and until you spend your life in seeking to please Him , you are not spiritually evolved at all . That is the Power you should trust , the Power through which you can find guidance , happiness , strength and freedom . That is the Power which will give you emancipation . No other duty is important if it takes your thought and desire away from your duty to God ; all else is illusion . This earth is a foreign land ; we are not in our own Home . In an instant you may be required to leave this world ; you will have to cancel all your engagements . Why then give any other activity first importance , with the result that you have no time for God ? That is not common sense . It is because of Maya ( cosmic delusion ) , which is thrown over us , that we entangle ourselves in mundane interests and forget the Lord .
While you are well and strong , do not spend your time on foolishness . God understands everything ; He knows He has sent us to this terrible place . He grieves in His heart at our sufferings . Nothing hurts Him more than to see us grovel in the mud of delusion . He wants us to come back Home . And to those who make the effort to know Him , He responds : " From sheer compassion I , the Divine Indweller , set alight in them the radiant lamp of wisdom which banishes the darkness of ignorance ." ( Gita 10 / 11 ) . For every man who retraces his steps to God , there is a great celebration among the angels . They actually appear and receive that returning soul in great joy . There is no way back Home if you weave around you a snare of worldly desires . You came to play your part on the stage of time , to fill the role that you were designed for in the divine drama ; but the essential part of your role is to think of Him and to do His will , naught else . Every thought , every act , is deluded that does not place Him first . The Hindu scriptures say : " As soon as you feel the desire for God , immediately change your life and plunge into Him ."
Each soul must find its way back alone . No one but you are responsible for your mistakes and habits . Once you have found your Self in your soul , you are free . But so long as you are not free , so long there is danger , you will have to come back to earth and work out all the desires that remain unfinished . Your body is mortal , but the soul outlasts the body . If you die wanting a Cadillac ( car ) you will have to come back here for it ; you will not be able to get it in heaven , where cars are not used .
The only purpose of life is to find God . If you are married you and your loved one should seek the Divine together . People should be taught in youth how to control their emotions .
So long as ignorance remains , you cannot tell how many incarnations of suffering may be ahead of you . Eliminate ignorance by meditation . The longer you meditate , the more completely you will ' cauterise' the injurious mental bacteria that have been infecting you for ages . For instance , some people are prone to anger ; they do not realize that they have been cultivating the habit of wrathfulness for many lives .It is best to struggle to get rid of bad habits now . A complete surrender to God will destroy in you the Karma of ignorance .

The Law Of Attraction

“Instead of complaining that the rose bush is full of thorns, be happy the thorn bush has roses.” – Proverb

Life will always have its moments of darkness, but it is up to us to recognize and appreciate the light.

* What is the Great Illusion (Maya) ? *

* What is the Great Illusion (Maya) ? *

The Great Illusion (Maya, Māyā) refers to the created universe. While most of us consider the world around us to be real, it is a mistake, although a natural one, to believe that Maya represents a fundamental reality or the Truth. The Absolute Truth (Sat) is God Who is unchanging and resides in each of us as the soul. The veil of Maya traps us into believing that everything we perceive with our five senses, mind and intellect is in fact the Truth.

Maya may be understood as the phenomenal universe of perceived duality, a lesser reality-lens superimposed on the unity of Brahmā which is the Supreme God Principle.

Everything in Maya is subject to change, i.e., everything in it goes through creation, sustenance and destruction. Everything in Maya is devoid of Bliss and that which is devoid of Bliss cannot be eternal. Only God is eternal and Bliss is an experience associated with the God Principle. If we base our happiness on anything in Maya, our happiness is always short-lived as the very nature of Maya is change. Therefore our happiness will always be based on a target that is constantly changing.

On the other hand, the soul or the God Principle within us is eternal and not subject to change. Once we transcend our five senses, mind and intellect and experience the soul within, we experience Bliss.

What is the relation between our ego and spiritual level?

* Share your thoughts in the comments below *

Ego means the tendency of man to perceive himself only as his five senses, mind and intellect. It is also known as the spiritual ignorance of our true state of existence, that is the Soul....
One important parameter of the spiritual level of a person is the amount of ego that has been removed and how much he identifies himself, with the Soul within.

With spiritual practice, ego begins to reduce until we reach the highest spiritual level where we are able to fully identify with the Soul within. Reduction in ego is directly related to the increase in our spiritual level.

Spiritual reasons why we like certain colours

Spiritual reasons why we like certain colours

1.) Due to basic nature:
The most pertinent factor in why a person likes a certain colour is because it closely matches his basic nature. A sattvik person would prefer sattvik colours such as white or light blue. If the basic nature of a person is tamasik, they would prefer more tamasik colours such as black.

2.) Due to the effect of negative energies:
A person under the control of negative energies usually perceives good vibrations even from the colour black. All the four bodies namely physical, mental, intellectual and the subtle-ego can be spiritually impaired when an individual is possessed by negative energies. Since the negative energy is Tama-predominant, the person also takes a liking to Tama-predominant objects such as black garments.

3.) Due to past life impressions:
If an individual was harmed by a person who was wearing green clothes in a previous birth, the individual will most likely have an aversion to the colour green in the next birth by subtle-association.

4.) Change due to the level of spiritual practice:
A seeker who experiences a sustained state of spiritual emotion (bhāv) may prefer the colour blue. This is because in the spiritual dimension, the subtle-colour of spiritual emotion is blue.

He who meditates on food

He who meditates on food as Brahman obtains the world rich in food and drink; he can, of his own free will, reach as far as food reaches-he who meditates on food as Brahman. Narada said: Venerable Sir, is there anything greater than food? Of course there is something greater than food. Please tell that to me, venerable Sir.
~~ Chandogya Upanishad VII, IX - Food as Brahman, 2

Water is, verily, greater than food. Therefore if there is not sufficient rain, then living creatures are afflicted with the thought that there will be less food. But if there is sufficient rain, then living creatures rejoice in the thought that there will be much food. It is water that assumes the form of this earth, this mid-region, this heaven, these mountains, these gods and men, cattle and birds, herbs and trees and animals, together with worms, flies and ants. Water indeed is all these forms. Meditate on water.
~~ Chandogya Upanishad VII, X - Water as Brahman, 1

He who meditates on water as Brahman obtains all his desires and becomes satisfied; he can, of his own free will, reach as far as water reaches-he who meditates on water as Brahman. Narada said: Venerable Sir, is there anything greater than water?Of course there is something greater than water. Please tell that to me, venerable Sir.

Moksha Gita - 2

The Gita – Chapter 4 – Shloka 23

Lord Krishna continued:
A person who has no attachment to anything whatsoever in this world, whose heart is set on acquiring Gyan (wisdom), who works for the sake of sacrifice, and is a totally liberated person from the world, all actions for this person melt away and are meaningless.

Bhagwad Geeta - Lord Krishna

Moksha Gita - 2

Maya (illusion) is the upadhi (limiting adjunct) of Ishvara (God). She is the illusory power of Brahman. She keeps the lila (creative play) of Ishvara (God through her three gunas (qualities), viz., satva (purity), rajas (passion) and tamas (darkness).

Maya is not non-existent because it appears, neither is it existent because it is destroyed by the dawn of knowledge. Maya is 'not That'. It is an indescribable appearance.

Maya is neither sat (real) nor asat (unreal). Maya is anadi santam (beginningless) but has an end only for the sage who has realised the Self). Maya is shuddha satva or pure satva.

He who gets knowledge of the Self having overcome maya or the illusory power, will alone know what maya is, how it arises and is destroyed.

The five elements, the five tanmatras (subtle or root elements), and the various objects of the world are all products or modifications of maya.

Just as you can infer the existence of fire through smoke, so also you can infer the existence of maya through its various manifestations.

Maya is of the nature of mind. Maya generates different degrees of illusion. Maya pervades everywhere. If your mind is destroyed by discrimination and vichara (enquiry into the Self), then maya will not afflict you.

This mind which ever hankers after sensual objects is the seed of maya. If the mind is annihilated maya will vanish. You will attain the state of quiescence. Brahma Jnana (knowledge of the Absolute) will dawn in you.
